At-Bay Welcomes Sandy Perdiguerra, West Coast Regional Manager
Get to know Sandy and learn what’s in store for the future of At-Bay’s underwriting team
Sandy Perdiguerra recently joined At-Bay as our new West Coast Regional Manager. In this role, Sandy will grow At-Bay’s presence up and down the coast.
With 15 years of underwriting and management experience, Sandy has fostered strong broker relationships, specializing in financial lines products. She most recently served as Vice President, Regional Manager at Hiscox, where she oversaw the Technology & Cyber Team and Management Liability for the Northwest region. Prior to that, she spent a decade underwriting and managing both Management Liability and Professional Liability at AIG.
We sat down with Sandy to discuss her decision to join the At-Bay team and learn more about what she has planned for the future.
What made you want to join At-Bay?
I was really drawn to the technology at At-Bay. I’ve lived in the Bay Area my entire life and have always been in close proximity to so many tech companies and startups. It’s a great complement to what I’ve been doing for most of my career.
At-Bay is leveraging technology to drive better underwriting decisions that support profitable and sustainable growth over time. We’re also improving our insured’s security posture by bringing their attention to vulnerabilities that exist in their network. Knowledge is power, and we’re using our security scan to arm insureds with actionable insights and security recommendations to help mitigate loss.
At-Bay gives me a competitive advantage and increased visibility into the highly technical aspect of the lines I’m writing. We’re changing the insurance landscape by modernizing the experience, and I’m excited to help lead this initiative.
Do you have any notable goals as the West Coast Regional Manager?
Technology is a crucial part of what we do here, but I believe insurance will continue to be a “people” business. I have deep relationships with a lot of brokers and hope to continue growing our network.
As a team manager, I also hope to provide support to our entire underwriting organization. I’m a proponent of assembling a diverse team with different backgrounds — I think that’s how you build a high-caliber team. And I want to understand the career aspirations of everyone on my team. It’s all about people in a position to succeed.
What are your thoughts on the current cyber landscape and opportunities in the future?
Everybody is trying to figure out how to write cyber in a profitable way due to all the ransomware activity we’re seeing. It’s refreshing to know cyber security has been part of our foundation from the beginning because it puts us in a position to be a sustainable company for decades to come.
“Technology is a crucial part of what we do here, but I believe insurance will continue to be a ‘people’ business.”
— Sandy Perdiguerra, West Coast Regional Manager
I like how At-Bay takes a proactive approach in assessing risk and exposure. With that said, state-of-the-art technology means nothing without the right people to maximize the potential, and I’m glad to be part of an organization with such forward-thinking individuals.
What do you like to do when you’re not working?
I love to spend time with my family. We’ve lived in the Bay Area all our lives and still enjoy every moment. Recently, I’ve picked up outdoor yoga, and it’s so lovely and relaxing to practice at the park or beach.
